About us:
Seishikan is a traditional form of Japanese karate, which places a strong emphasis on student discipline and traditional Japanese etiquette. Seishikan Karate Mount Gambier is run by Head of Style Shihan Phil Bates, an 8th Dan, and Chief Instructor Shihan Alba Kraatz, a 6th Dan.
Seishikan Karate School was founded in Adelaide, Australia by Shihan Masao Tada, an 8th dan, in 1972. Two years later, the Seishikan Karate Mount Gambier School was opened by Shihan Kyoshi Tsujimoto, a 7th dan, in October 1974.
Seishikan is a karate school for all ages and for people interested in learning and developing skills in self-discipline, self-belief and self-defence. Seishikan has a strong junior membership base and is popular with parents wishing to channel their child’s energy towards productive goals and achievements.
Seishikan has a successful history in sport karate, winning state and national tournaments and placing several times in the top 3 in international events. Over the past 36 years, numerous Seishikan students have been named Australia Karate Federation state and national team members.
